I don’t want to sit around and do nothing while there are people out there helping the sick. I have a skill that can help and I’m going to use it. These masks are not going to be used in the operating rooms or anything like that, but it will help stock supplies that could otherwise take away from the much needed mask that are in high demand.

At the time that I’m making this video I’ve been put on a list to help make more if they need it. the hospital was so grateful that people are doing this. If you don’t have kids, you might know someone who does and a burp cloth is an easy sewing project to manage.
Kids… I’m learning as a new dad, drool and spit up everywhere and on everything. Rest assured, this project will be appreciated by you and everything the little one touches.
You can keep it simple or pick a fun pattern, in the end, it won’t be on the baby that long, especially if your little one drools like mine.
I used two different receiving blanks that were different patterns.
I ended up cutting them into two triangle pieces, about the size of a bandanna folded into a triangle.
Then I made sure the sides I wanted on the outside were facing in towards each other. before I started sewing.
Find the thread color that closely matches the patter of the two peaces of fabric that you are working with.
I sewed around the edges using a straight stitch and left about two inches at the end of my sew to flip everything right side out.
I finished sewing the ends and used velcro on the tips of the cloth to hold the end pieces together when I put the cloth on my son.
You don’t have to use receiving blankets, you can use any material you don’t mind getting dirty, but I would warn against any heavy weight material because it could get hot.

Believe it or not, the T-Shirt quilt is an easy project to do. The practice you get from sewing this a bunch of squares together, is really worth it.
This will allow you to get the feel for your sewing machine, practice threading your machine, getting your speed down and getting comfortable with your equipment.
Not to mention it will help you clear out your closet but keep a hold of your favorite T-shirts.
This was one of my very first and favorite projects because It was a gift for my son and every block has a story.
I wanted to do this project so that my son would always remember his first blanket. I wanted him to have something special from his dad, something that he could ask me questions about. Each block has a story behind it. Yes even the Budweiser block.
That block, the Budweiser block reminds me of the time we lived in New Hampshire and met some really great friend and had some great experiences. Visiting the Budweiser plant… but It also reminds me of the snow and how I had to shovel his moms car out of the driveway every morning. It reminds me of the time I we went snowmobiling across the frozen Lake Winnipesaukee.
I want to be able to tell my son about different times in my life so the blocks will help me tell those stories.
You can make the project all about what you want to make it about. Your t-shirt quilt doesn’t have to that in depth. But make it mean something more that just, sewing a bunch of t-shirts together. You are going to spend some time working on this so make sure you make it worth it.
How could your significant other tell you to get rid of your old T-shirts now… if it’s for the baby!

By far the easiest project in my opinion. Practicing and knowing how to adjust your curtain length you will learn some basic sewing skills. This is a easy project to start off with. Doing this project will help you get the practice needed for hemming pants or taking in a shirt.
This would be an excellent time to check out different stitches on your machine. Don’t worry, I have never had anyone check the seams on my curtains. Who would do that?
